Meeting for Thursday, Nov. 19th 2009
This Thursday Horacio T will bring a short excerpt part of Act I Scene 3 of Hamlet to read and discuss. It is not difficult and there will be copies.
See the the link for a general comment on Hamlet. You may find more information in google.

THIS ABOVE ALL
(from HAMLET, ADVICE FROM POLONIUS TO HIS SON LAERTES )
And these few precepts in thy memory
See thou character. Give thy thoughts no tongue,
Nor any unproportioned thought his act.
Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar
Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel,
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
Of each new-hatched unfledged comrade. Beware
Of entrance to a quarrel; but being in
Bear’t, that the opposed may beware of thee,
Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice;
Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
For the apparel oft proclaims the man;
And they in France of the best rank and station
Are of a most select and generous chief in that.
Neither a borrower nor a lender be
For loan oft loses both itself and friend
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry,
This above all, to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man

Suggested topics for the chat
Situations and ideas to develop and discuss in the chat:
How do you feel when you get a compliment or a nice word from someone?
On the other hand, how do you feel when someone puts you down or ignores you?
Why we should all be looking at what is right in life and with each other instead of what is wrong?
Apply these answers to work situations, marriages, relationships and friendships, showing how each case can be improved.
